U.S. brokerage sales have picked up 10 percent with 2,443 boats sold in the month of March, compared to the 2,215 boats sold in March of last year. With data taken from YachtWorld, significant gains were made in the sales of boats under 45 feet and the boats sold rung in at a less expensive price tag than last year’s boats. Thus, the net result of $283.6 million was lower sales value than last March’s $321.1 million.
Although sales declined by one boat in the 46 to 55 foot range, the total sold price increased by more $2.1 million with the average sold price jumping up 7 percent to $305,400. In contrast, only 62 boats were sold within the 56 and 70-foot range and the average sold price dropped $625,200 from $792,900.
For the first quarter, sales volume was up 2 percent in the United States, with 5,564 boats sold. The aggregate value of the sales was $703.6 million, down 6 percent from $749.6 million a year earlier.
